Why did we create the Comfort Quilt program at the Parkinson’s Comfort Project? Two reasons: Marcia Hakala’s reaction to the first Comfort Quilt made and responses like this from recipients in Vermont and New Hampshire:
“[person with Parkinson’s] loved the quilt. He was so moved by the time, skill and thoughtfulness that went into this extraordinary gift. Will you please express our deep gratitude to the artisan who made it?”
We are blessed by the incredibly deep generosity of quilters in Vermont and New Hampshire who share their talent and love of creating the Comfort Quilts for people with Parkinson’s. The love and heart that goes into their work is boundless.
On Saturday, April 5th, we will be hosting the first Piecing for Parkinson’s event at Quail Hollow in West Lebanon, NH. If you are a quilter, or have dabbled around the edges of quilting, you are heartily invited to participate. You can find more information about the event here. If you have received a Parkinson’s Comfort Quilt in the past, we warmly invite you to join us and share your experience with your quilt as well as enjoy the warmth and joy the quilting community has in abundance!
