As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving this Thursday, we are called to pause to consider the blessings we have in our lives. Those of you on Facebook have undoubtedly seen the “30 days of thanks” that have been happening on that site. While I have not participated directly; it has made me take stock of what I am thankful for.
I am most thankful for my fiancée, parents, family and friends. I also give thanks for the Parkinson’s community here in Vermont and New Hampshire and the wider world. You have embraced the idea of the Parkinson’s Comfort Project, encouraged it and given wonderful advice and feedback. We are humbled by your generosity and hopeful spirit!
My thanksgiving extends also to the memory of my grandparents whose own battles with Parkinson’s and passing inspired us to be here today. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about them.
I hope all of you have a joyous and safe Thanksgiving. Enjoy the food, bring home leftovers and make sure to boil down the turkey carcass, it makes great soup stock!
